Waste paper – sustainable raw material for new paper
Our waste paper sources
The waste paper that we use to produce our high-quality paper comes mainly from Swiss sources. We organize the reliable procurement of waste paper through our subsidiary, APS Altpapier Service Schweiz AG. APS works closely with local authorities, waste disposal companies, printers and businesses to ensure that the waste paper collected is recycled and processed into new paper at the Perlen paper mill.

Tips for correct collecting
Waste paper is a valuable secondary raw material. The quality of the collected paper plays a decisive role in ensuring that recycling works optimally. Separate paper from cardboard and dispose of it clean and dry – this way you support recycling.
Paper collection – this belongs in the waste paper
Newspapers, magazines, books, inserts, office and writing paper, coloring pads, envelopes (without cardboard, shrink-wrap or plastic).
Cardboard collection – what belongs in the box
Cardboard boxes, corrugated cardboard, packing paper, egg cartons, gray cardboard, paper carrier bags, uncoated vegetable and fruit cartons (clean and uncoated).
This is unsuitable for recycling
Coated papers (not water-soluble) and digital printing papers, papers from UV printing processes, waxed papers, file folders, hygiene and thermal paper (e.g. receipts), self-adhesive papers, contaminated cardboard packaging (e.g. pizza boxes), edge protectors, wallpaper and decorative papers.
Paper: reused up to ten times
Efficient recycling: A paper fiber can be reused up to ten times before it loses its quality. This makes paper one of the most sustainable materials in the world. Thanks to our efficient recycling process, we ensure that today’s waste paper becomes tomorrow’s newspaper.
