Into the future with packaging made from paper fibres: sustainable and recyclable

Plastic packaging is under increasing pressure: EU packaging regulations, extended producer responsibility (EPR) and growing environmental awareness among consumers are putting brands and manufacturers under pressure – often without suitable alternatives.

Packaging made from natural fibres offers the solution. With fibre casting, Perlen Papier is developing recyclable packaging that can be easily disposed of in waste paper and combines cost-effectiveness with sustainability.

What is fibre casting?

Fibre-based fibre casting is a packaging technology in which fibres – usually made from recycled paper, wood pulp or cellulose – are poured into molds and dried to produce stable packaging parts.

This technology is increasingly being used as a replacement for plastic packaging, especially for disposable products and protective packaging.

Sustainability & life cycle

  • Plastic packaging has an average useful life of just 0.5 years, but remains in the environment for centuries until it has decomposed.
  • Around 142 million tons of plastic packaging are produced every year – generating an enormous amount of waste.
  • Paper and cast fibre packaging , on the other hand, decompose within 2-6 weeks.
  • A paper fibre can be collected in waste paper and recycled up to 10 times.
  • Fibre casting is the ecological answer to packaging printing.

100 % recyclable

Our paper fibre solutions can be collected in Swiss waste paper – so today’s packaging becomes the raw material for tomorrow’s paper product.

Gain competitive advantages and brand differentiation through environmentally friendly packaging solutions made of cast fiber.
