Electric power
We are proud of our two in-house run-of-river power stations. Ever since its foundation, Perlen Papier AG has used hydro power from its river plants to generate electricity. But by far, they do not cover our energy consumption but they contribute a small proportion to our daily energy demand. The majority of our energy demand is sourced by the Swiss Network. |

Thermal Energy
The energy to produce steam is mainly recovered from 33 % of C02 neutral fuels and a further 22 % of the power needed we generate by means of thermomechanical process (TMP).
The peak demand (steam) we produce from oil and gas.
Perlen Papier AG acts as disposer of its own scrap wood as well as other harmless combustibles. Our production of generating heat is continuously adapted to the regulations of the Swiss Clean Air Act (LRV).
To keep the air pollution as little as possible our combustors have been fitted with nitric oxide scrubbers and partly with catalytic converters.

Combined heat/power generation
Paper drying calls for steam to heat the drying cylinder. Steam is provided by means of TMP-heat recovery and boiler vessel. The excess pressure resulted from steam output is conducted by two steam turbines and thus the recovered energy is fed back into the internal mains. |
